'Siriliya Waruna'

‘Siriliya Waruna’ a program to celebrate the International Women’s Day was conducted by the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit at the “Astra” Cinema Hall, SLAF Base Katunayake on 17th March 2012. The Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrema graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by spouses of Officers and Airmen, Lady Officers and Airwomen of SLAF.

The day’s program consisted of a variety of events that included presentation of gift packs for pregnant mothers, donation of sewing machines and a grooming and beauty culture session conducted by Mrs. Nayana Karunarathne of ‘Salon Nayana’, a cookery demonstration by Mrs. Amaline Gunasinghe and a valuable lecture and Q & A session on ‘Family and Life’ Dr. Nirosh Mendis. The Ladies of the SLAF displayed their talents when they ‘Walked the Ramp’ in an exclusive fashion show, as well as took to Stage to sing, act, dance and perform the piano.

The day’s events were organized to perfection under the guidance of the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake Air Cdre Ranil Gurusinghe and his team in the Organizing committee, whilst the SLAF Band provided the musical backing.
