Passing out parade held at SLAF Academy China Bay

The Passing out parade of the No.154 Regular Airmen Recruit Course was held at SLAF Academy China Bay on 08 April 2013. A total of 220 Aircraft Technicians passed out from this prestigious academy and their training focused on Drill, Weapon Training, Military Tactics, Field craft, Map Reading, Air Force Organization& Administration, Fire Fighting, Explosive Handling, Humanitarian Law, Combat First Aid & Jungle Combat Training.

The Director Logistics Air Vice Marshal KVB Jayampathy graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Director Training Air Vice Marshal K Yahampath witnessed the parade as the Guest of Honour. The Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay, Air Commodore SK Pathirana was also present during the parade. The Parade was commanded by the acting Commanding Officer of the Combat Training School Sqn Ldr MLV Gunawardene.

The parade was followed by a power packed performance of unarmed combat which saw a sequence of moves, splits and remarkable jumps done by the passed out trainees. A band display, drill display and a bayonet assault display was also part of the programme.

The meticulously perfect parade, the drill display, the bayonet assault display and the unarmed combat performance demonstrated the efficiency of the academy and its coterie of committed instructors. The event was witnessed by officers, other ranks, the parents of the trainees and well wishers. TA 30854 AC Rathnayake KMCM was the Best All Round Recruit of the course.
