Computer Labs Established in Underprivileged Schools in Morawewa

The Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Sri Lanka Air Force declared open two computer labs in the newly renovated buildings at Awwenagar Tamil Vidyalaya and Morawewa Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya on 29th July 2013.

This project was initiated by the SVU after a long outstanding and urgent necessity was identified at these two underprivileged schools in Morawewa. The construction project was completely undertaken by the SLAF Unit Morawewa with the contribution of manpower whilst the Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit of the Commercial Bank Headquarters Colombo provided monetary assistance to complete the renovation works of dilapidated structures to be utilized as fully equipped computer labs and also provided two computers, a printer, two computer chairs and tables for the computer lab at Awwenagar Tamil Vidyalaya and three computers, a printer, three computer chairs and tables for the computer lab at Morawewa Sinhala Vidyalaya. People who gathered to witness the occasion expressed their sincere gratitude to the SLAF and to the well-wishers who willingly assisted them.

The Chairperson of the SLAF SVU Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrema graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Director Welfare Air Vice Marshal MLK Perera, Air Commodore WLRP Rodrigo the Command Welfare Project Officer, Commanding Officer SLAF Unit Morawewa Wg Cdr HWR Chandima, Mr. Issuru Thilakawardene the General Maneger Human Resource, Mrs. Priyanthi Perera the Chief Manager Operations of the Commercial Bank, the members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Service personnel of SLAF Unit Morawewa and parents of the children were also present at the event
