No. 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron which was inaugurated under the command of Gp Capt WLMJP Rodrigo that made immense contribution towards liberating the motherland from the clutches of brutal terrorism since its inception proudly celebrated its 18th Anniversary recently.

To mark the event a working parade was held at the Base parade ground and it was reviewed by Squadron Leader MVC Silva, the Acting Commanding Officer of the Squadron. Floral tributes were offered at the monument, as a tribute to the war heroes who sacrificed their precious lives while serving in this Squadron. This was followed by an all ranks breakfast which was arranged in the hanger premises.

Commemoration of war heroes, who made the supreme sacrifice while serving in the No.7 and No.9 Squadrons, was conducted in coordination with both Squadrons. Religious activities viz. Pirith Chanting ceremony and Alms giving, Mass at the Christ the King Church Hingurakgoda and Prayers at the Mohideen Jumma Mosque Hathamuna Polonnaruwa took place with the participation of family members of war heroes.  A number of charity programmes were also carried out with the participation of all ranks of the Squadron to mark this event.
