Launched on 1st May 2012 the Gagana Viru Saviya Welfare Scheme
provides Medical and Life Care facilities to the members of
the Sri Lanka Air Force and their families. The GVS Scheme
started issuing a membership certificate and a handbook in order to
educate the members of the facilities and services available through
this welfare scheme.
The first membership certificate was handed over to the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama by Director of Administration Air Commodore Chandana Welikala today at the Commander’s Office. Director of Health Services, Air Commodore Sunil Karunaratne and Command R&D Officer Air Commodore Jayasiri Amarasena, too, were present at this occasion.
Gagana Viru Saviya provides many relief measures to its members through financial contributions for medical operations, financial assistance in case of deaths as well as scholarships for children of its members, benefits that are unparalleled in other commercially available medical insurance schemes. It is also planned to link the GVS scheme with leading private hospitals through a cashless card system in the future.
Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, too, was presented with his membership certificate, today.
