SLAF Haiti Contingent Celebrates 63rd Anniversary of the SLAF

The SLAF contingent in Haiti with 18 Sri Lanka battalion celebrated the 63rd anniversary of Sri Lanka Air Force on 3 March by engaging in community service activities focused on three orphanages that are home to children who were affected by the earthquake during 2010 in Haiti.  The members of the contingent donated food, medicine, sanitary items and stationary items while troops also helped clean the surroundings of the orphanages.

The activities were organized under the guidance of Wg Cdr Jagath Godakanda the Officer Commanding SLAF contingent and Wg Cdr Chaminda Herath.

In addition to this, a newly constructed kitchen completed by the 18 Sri Lanka Battalion was declared open by the Contingent Commander, Colonel Nandana Dunuwila RWP, RSP and handed over to an orphanage on the day.  Further, a blood donation campaign was also conducted where 50 soldiers from the Army, Navy and Air force donated blood.
