Commander Inspects the SLAF Digana Runway Constructions

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke visited the Digana runway construction site on 10 August 2014.

The proposed airstrip, the SLAF’s 16th Runway, is expected to facilitate the landing of light aircraft will be used for fixed-wing operations. Located centrally, the runway is expected to cut down the time of travel within the country.  When operational, passengers will be able to travel from Kandy to any part of the country in less than an hour.
 
The airstrip will be constructed by the RDA, under the supervisions of the SLAF.
