Victory Day Celebrations 2010
The National Victory celebrations marking the 1st anniversary of liberating the motherland from over three decades of ruthless terrorism will be held tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM at the Galle Face.

The National Victory Parade will take a new look this year, as all Units (All forces of Headquarters Element, Eastern Theater, Northern Theater, and Wanni Theater) which participated in the successful Humanitarian Operations will be represented.

The SLAF will be a part of the Victory Parade by participating in the parade in order of battle according to the respective theater of operations.

All SLAF Formations, Bases Units will be represented in each of the elements representing the Head Quarters, Eastern, Northern and Wanni theaters of operations.

All SLAF flying formations will be represented in the Fly past which will include two Bell 212’s, three Bell 412's three Mi17, three Mi 24 Attack Helicopters, five PT6 Trainers, three K8 Jet Trainers, two C130 Hercules transports, three An32b Transports, six Y12 passenger transports three F7 interceptors, three Kfir Multi Role Jets, three Mig27 ground attack jets etc.

Weapons and munitions utilized by the SLAF and Air defence equipment including guns and Radars will also be on parade. The SLAF contingent will be commanded by Air Commodore Sumangala Dias, whilst the HQ Element (SLAF) will be commanded by Group Captain Leonard Rodrigo, the Eastern element will be commanded by Group Captain Sudarshana Pathirana, the Northern contingent by Group Captain Ravindra Liyanagamge and the Wanni contingent will be commanded by Wing Commander Shehan Fernando.

Sky Divers from the three services will free fall from six thousand feet from an SLAF C130 Hercules to conclude the parade.  An SLAF Beech Craft will provide real-time footage from air and will be linked to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation live telecast.
 
After the conclusion of the Victory Parades at Galle Face Green, a "War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony" will be held at the War Memorial at Parliament Grounds at 4:00 PM.
