Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias conducted the Commander’s Inspection of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Hingurakgoda yesterday (6th July 2019).
The Commander reviewed the Commander’s Inspection Parade commanded by the Base Commander of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Air Commodore VB Edirisinghe. The following service personnel were awarded commendations during the parade.

During the course of the Inspection the Commander visited all areas of the Base including Base Headquarters, No 7 Sqn, No 9 Sqn, No 2 S&MD, No 25 Regiment Wing. The Commander also joined the customary all ranks lunch at the Airmens’ Mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian staff.
Concluding the Commander’s Inspection, the Commander addressed all ranks including the civilian personnel at the No 7 Squadron. The Commander reminded that the Base being the home of the No 7 Helicopter Squadron and the No 9 Helicopter Squadron plays a vital role within the Air Force by training and producing helicopter Pilots and also by responding promptly to natural calamities of the nation. He also mentioned that the Regimental Special Forces was based at Hingurakgoda and that they also provide vital services to those in need during times of need in Sri Lanka. The Commander finally encouraged all to strive for excellence and also expressed his appreciation for all the hard work expended by all members of the Base towards maintaining and uplifting the standards of the Base to the highest standards.
