53rd World Military Boxing Championship – 2010

Sri Lanka Armed Forces combined Boxing team will leave f or USA on 07 October to participate in the 53rd World Military Boxing Championship 2010. The Championship will be held from 08th to 17th October at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, USA.


The Lankan team will be faced off against competitors from 15 countries including United States of America, India, Kazakastan, Ireland, Estonia, Barbados, Netherlands, Ukraine, Republic of New Guinea, France, Brazil, Denmark, Italy, and Trinidad & Tobago.


The National team will be led by Squadron Leader MTM Shafraz who presently serves as a referee and judge of the Armature Boxing Association of the Sri Lanka. He also holds an appointment in the Executive Committee of the same institution.


A team of 10 boxers will leave for the Championship with three pugilists each from Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy, while Sri Lanka Air Force will be represented by four boxers.
