RACING TO THE FINISH LINE ‘GUWAN HAMUDA PAPEDI SAWARIYA 2024’

The final and fifth stage concluded, which is the five-day strive of the Men’s race, at the iconic city Jaffna today (07 March 2024).  Today’s journey from Vavuniya  to Jaffna covered a distance of 147.4 km. Shehal Chamod from the Sri Lanka Police secured the 1st in the fifth leg and Krishna Nayakodi  from the Indian Air Force and Pasindu Thisera from the Sri Lanka Army finished the final leap in the second and third places, respectively.

Simultaneously, the Women’s race commenced its inaugural voyage today, embarking from Mankulam and culminating in Jaffna, covering a distance of 98 kilometers. Ann Shenali Perera, a cyclist hailing from the Sri Lanka Navy, claimed the coveted first place. Dinesha Dilrukshi, representing the Sri Lanka Air Force, displayed commendable performance securing the second position, while Madumali Fernando of the Sri Lanka Army achieved third place, adding a glorious finish to the Women’s race.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on the premises at Muttraweli Ground – Jaffna this evening with the graceful presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, as the Chief Guest.
