Recruits passing out in SLAF Station Diyatalawa

No 110 B Volunteer Airmen and No 07 Volunteer Airwomen Initial Combat Training Courses were terminated and fall out from the prestigious SLAF Station Diyatalawa on 30 December 2011. The Commanding Officer Group Captain Janaka Amerasinghe RSP, BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MDS, psc was the Chief Guest of the event. Trainees have completed 2 1/2 month training programme which was covered Land Navigation, Field-craft, Tactics, Weapon Training, General Service Knowledge and Field Training Exercises as military subjects.

The most spectacular events were the "Drill Display" and “Gymnastic Display.” The performers were trained by the Drill Instructors and Physical Training Instructors of the Recruit Training Squadron. Their dedication and commitment for this entrusted task was very well shown even after a short training of just 2 1/2 months.

The parents of the Trainees were invited for the occasion and a "Parents Day" was
held at the Small Parade Square on the same day. A "Talent Show" was staged by the Trainees in order to entertain the invitees. Those who witnessed the events praised all instructors for their worthy contribution they had made to transform the Trainees from civilians to service men and service women.

The Commanding Officer together with Officer Commanding Training, Wing Commander Vajira Senadheera RSP, psc gave leadership to the training crew of the Station. Sqn Ldr RND Senadheera as the CIRT, Sqn Ldr DCP Munasinghe as the Off I/C RT I and Flt Lt MMPM Marasinghe as the Off I/C RT II shouldered to carry out the training programme.

VA 024657 AC2UT Palitha HK ( MT & SO )became the best Airmen Recruit of the course whilst VAW 01794 AC2UT Subashini KHS ( Ops Grd ) secured the best Airwomen Recruit.
