Air Commodore Lalith Rukman Jayaweera was born on 25th March 1966 and completed his primary education at St Aloysius College, Galle and secondary education at Richmond College, Galle. He is a graduate of Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna.
Air Commodore LR Jayaweera joined SLAF on 03 April 1994. He has been awarded with North & East operation Medal, Purna Bumi Medal, Armed Forces Long Services Medal, Riviresa Medal, 50th Independence Medal, North Humanitarian Medal, East Humanitarian Medal and United Nation Services Medal.
Air Commodore LR Jayaweera has served as the Senior Staff Officer at Dte of HS, Commanding Officer of SLAF Hospital Katunayaka and SLAF Hospital Rathmalana, Station Medical Officer of Colombo, Vavunia, Chinabay, Palaly and Hingurakgoda, SLAF Stations. He has also worked as the Force Hygiene Officer at UN Peace Keeping Mission in Chad.
Air Commodore LR Jayaweera has specialized in Aviation Medicine having followed the Primary Aviation Medicine Course at Institute of Aerospace Medicine at Bangalore, India and Diploma in Aerospace Medicine Course in Texas, USA. Further he followed Aviation Psychiatry Course in India and Aircraft Accident Investigation Course in USA. Air Commodore Jayaweera is qualified in MSc (D & SS) from KDU and he is a graduate of Defence Services and Staff Collage, Batalanda.
He is married to Preeni who is a director at Petroleum Recourses Development Secretariat and blessed with two children, Binuka and Janusha.
