SLAF WOMEN’S TEAM DOMINATES AT 13TH DEFENCE SERVICES TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP
The 13th Defence Services Taekwondo Championship 2024/2025 concluded successfully at the Gymnasium of SLAF Base Katunayake, from 17 to 20 December 2024. The Deputy Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Chaminda Wickramaratne, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Sri Lanka Air Force Women’s Taekwondo Team emerged as the Women’s Champions, securing an impressive haul of five Gold, two Silver and nine Bronze medals. Meanwhile, the SLAF Men’s Taekwondo Team achieved the Runners-Up position with an outstanding tally of four Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal. Aircraftman Prabashwara DPGAM was recognized for his exceptional performance and was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Best Player’ of the tournament.
The event was attended by the Chairman of SLAF Taekwondo, Air Vice Marshal Thushara Sirimanne, Deputy Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Ashad Liyanarachchi, senior officers from the Sri Lanka Army and Navy and other taekwondo officials.
