Rugby comes alive for the Airmen as they registered their third victory in the Mastercard Inter Club Rugby League 2024/25 by beating a strong Police rugby outfit today (18 January 2025) at the Ratmalana Air Force Rugby Grounds.

The game started with an early try registered by the Shashika Fernando of Air Force with the conversion successfully completed by Gayantha Iddamalgoda.

The cops retaliated with a successful try to equal the Airmen. At lemons, the score stood at 7 points for both teams.

The second half started with a dominant play by the Cops who went on to score two consecutive tries. But the Airmen stood firm to prove their dominance with two more tries by Nirmal Wickramasinghe and Shamika Kaushan within the last ten minutes of the game.

Both teams came in to the game with a desire to win and to book their place in the Top Tier of the tournament, while the Airmen proved their grit and spirit with a last moment try and once again reached to the top four in the points table.

The Airmen will be tested again at Nittawela against the strong outfit of Kandy SC on 26 January 2025.
