SLAF EMERGES RUNNER-UP IN MEN'S RACE AND CHAMPION IN WOMEN'S RACE AT GUWAN HAMUDA PAPEDI SAWARIYA 2025
‘Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2025’ was held for the 26th consecutive time, coinciding with the 74th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Men’s race was held from 28th February to 02nd March 2025, in 3 stages. Cyclists from all around the country as well as from abroad participated in this race, covering a total distance of 422km. Chamod De Silva from Sri Lanka Police won the overall Championship. The team championship was nailed by the Sri Lanka Army Cycling Team, while a toe-to-toe contest by the Sri Lanka Air Force Team secured the Runner-Up spot at the race.

In the Women’s race held today (02 March 2025) from Meerigama to Colombo, which covered a distance of 86 km and the Sri Lanka Air Force dominated the podium, with Dinesha Dilrukshi securing first place, followed by Panchali Sulochana in second and Sudarika Priyadarshani claiming third. The team championship was also titled by the Sri Lanka Air Force Cycling Team.

The awards ceremony was held on the premises of Riffle Green Ground in Colombo and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Staff, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, the Chairman, SLAF Cycling, Air Vice Marshal Indika Wickramasinghe, senior officers, representatives from all the sponsors who joined hands for the entire thrilling event, along with the official media partners, were also present at the presentation ceremony.
