SLAF INTER-UNIT CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025 CONCLUDE AT KATUNAYAKE

The 2025 Inter-Unit Men’s and Women’s Cricket Championships of the Sri Lanka Air Force concluded on 29 May 2025 at the SLAF Base Katunayake Cricket Ground. The finals drew significant attention, with Air Vice Marshal Dammika Dias, Director General Training gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
SLAF Base Vavuniya emerged champions in the Men’s category, while Trade Training School Ekala claimed the Women’s title, capping off an exciting day of competitive cricket.

In the Men’s final, SLAF Regiment Training Centre (RTC) Ampara posted a total of 103 all out in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, SLAF Base Vavuniya reached 84 for 6 in 14 overs, securing victory by 4 wickets under the DLS method, thus clinching the championship in a rain-affected contest.
The Women’s final was a thrilling affair as well. SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa scored 55 for 4 in 5 overs, setting a challenging target. However, SLAF TTS Ekala responded with confidence, chasing down the total in just 4 overs, scoring 56 for 2 and sealing the title with a dominant performance.
The finals were witnessed by Air Commodore Suresh Jayasinghe, Chairman of SLAF Cricket, along with members of the Air Force Sports Council, officers, and airmen and airwomen from across the force. The event was a celebration of sportsmanship, skill, and inter-unit camaraderie, further strengthening the sporting spirit within the Sri Lanka Air Force.
