SLAF SECURES RUNNERS-UP TITLE AT CHINA–SRI LANKA FRIENDSHIP CUP DRAGON BOAT CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
The China–Sri Lanka Friendship Cup Dragon Boat Championship 2025 was successfully held today (31 May 2025) at the  Diyawanna Rowing Center - Battaramulla. The event was organized to commemorate the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and to celebrate the longstanding friendship between China and Sri Lanka.

The championship was jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka. The competition featured multiple categories, including Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Master Women, Mixed, Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s events and attracted top-tier rowing talent from across the country.

The SLAF team secured the Runners-Up position in the Men’s Open category, demonstrating outstanding performances.

The event was graced by the presence of the Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Qi Zhenhong and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon. Sunil Kumar Gamage. The Chairman SLAF Rowing, Air Commodore Asitha Hettiarachchi and other SLAF officials also attended the event.
