Olympism and Olympic Movement Sustainable Leadership through Sports

A special programme on “Olympism and Olympic Movement Sustainable Leadership Through Sports” for Sports Administrators of SLAF was organized by the Air Force Sports Council in coloration with Directorate of Sports at the Air Force Headquarters Auditorium yesterday (16 December 2019).

Olympism refers to the philosophy of the Olympic Games. Excellence, Respect and friendship are the three core values of Olympism and are a central focus at the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games. The aim of this interactive workshop was to enhance the knowledge on Olympism and how core values of Olympism can be inculcated to develop sustainable leadership through Sports.

The workshop was moderated by the Veteran Sport personality, Group Captain (Retd) Nalin De Silva. Further he also delivered a lecture on Olympism and Sustainable Leadership. The following prominent resource personnel also added value to the workshop.

Further, members of winning debating team from Mahamaya College and Sirimavo Balika Vidyalaya who participated for the event held at the International Olympic Academy, Ancient Olympia, Greece shared their knowledge on “Olympism & Soft Diplomacy”.

The Chairperson Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mayuri Prabhavi Dias graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and Mrs. Charmini Pathirana, Members of the Air Force Board of Management with their ladies, Director Sports, Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council, Chairmen and Secretaries of the Air Force Sports councils were also present.
