No 41 Basic and No 10 Free Fall Parachute Courses, No 3 Jump Master Course and No 6 SABF Course Pass Out at Ampara

The Passing Out Parade of the 41st Basic Parachute Course, No 10 Free Fall Parachute Course, No 3 Jump Master Course and No 6 Special Airborne Force (SABF) Course was held at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara today (20 February 2020). A total of 101 Para troopers pinned on their badges at the ceremony. This included 7 SLAF Officers, 38 Airmen, 4 Airwomen, 4 SL Army Other Rankers, 6 SL Navy Other Rankers, 4 male and 2 female STF personnel, a SLAF Officer who followed his Jump Master Training in Pakistan and Lady Officer who had followed her Basic Parachute Training in China, 3 SLAF Officers and 31 Airman of the Air Force SABF.

Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while members from the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers of the Three Services, were also among the distinguished guests. Commanding Officer of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara Group Captain Suresh Fernando, Acting Commanding Officer of Parachute Training School, Squadron Leader Sumedha Ritigala, joined the proud parents of the trainees to witness the function.

The parade commenced with static line jumps of the trainees from a Y-12 aircraft at 1000 feet. Thereafter, the Sky Divers of the SLAF performed a magnificent show, exiting at 10000 feet from the same aircraft.

An Unarmed Combat Display by course participants, a Drill display by the Air Force Colour Wing and a Band Display by the Air Force Ceremonial Band added glamour to the parade.

Flying Officer PJHKM Senadheera and Leading Aircraftman Abeynayake ALM were adjudged the Best Para Troopers of No 41 Basic Airborne Course and No 6 Special Airborne Force Course respectively.
