PACE STICK, LANYARD AND CANE AWARDING CEREMONY OF DRILL INSTRUCTORS AND GUNNER INSTRUCTORS AT SLAF COMBAT TRAINING SCHOOL DIYATALAWA

The Ceremony of Pace Stick awarding for No.56 Airmen and No. 12 Airwomen Drill Instructor Technique course and Lanyard and Cane awarding for No.66 Airmen and No. 23 Airwomen Gunner Instructor Technique courses was held yesterday (17 June 2025) at SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa.
The Commanding Officer, Air Commodore DMR Dassanayake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Officer Commanding Training, Group Captain AKW Lakshman as well as all Officers and Instructors, all other Sections WO I/Cs participated for the occasion.
Leading Aircraftman Bandara WMW was adjudged as the ‘Best Drill Instructor’ while Leading Aircraftman Karunarathne RMDR was adjudged as the ‘Best All Round Gunner Instructor' of the course. A total of eight Airmen and two Airwomen qualified to receive the distinctive Pace Sticks and 39 Airmen and nine Airwomen qualified to receive the distinctive Lanyards and Canes during the ceremony.
