SLAF Assists in Expanding Quarantine Capabilities at IDH

Given that Sri Lanka is at a decisive stage in the COVID-19 outbreak there is a growing need for isolation facilities at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases better known as IDH.

On the directives given by the Commander of the Air force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, Directorate of Civil Engineering commenced construction of a pre-fabricated building as an isolation centre. It has been planned for this centre to consist of 16 isolation rooms. Constructions commenced on 18 March 2020 and is expect to be completed within a period two weeks. The Commander also visited the construction site at IDH today (20 March 2020) to inspect the progress of the constructions.
