The 81st Anniversary Celebration of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association (SLESA) was held yesterday (28 September 2025) at the Grand Maitland Reception Hall, Colombo. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe along with a distinguished gathering of retired Tri-Forces Commanders, senior officers, Ministry of Defence officials and members of the Association, attended the event.

The event was organized to commemorate the 81 years of dedicated service rendered by the Ex-Servicemen to the nation. The ceremony featured several significant moments including the presentation of commemorative plaques, special awards for distinguished service, and cultural performances.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, in his keynote address, praised the invaluable contribution of the Ex-Servicemen to the nation's security and development. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring the sacrifices made by these brave individuals who have served the country with distinction.

The Commander of the Air Force also addressed the gathering, highlighting the strong bond between the Sri Lanka Air Force and its Ex-Servicemen. He assured the association of the Air Force's continued support and commitment to the welfare of its retired personnel.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a fellowship dinner, providing an opportunity for the Ex-Servicemen to reconnect and share their experiences.
