Welfare Facilities Provided by SLESA for the Members

2. Medical Assistance
1. Indoor treatment facilities available at Military Hospital - Colombo
2. Financial Assistance as indicated will be provided as and when required
• Major / Bypass Surgeries - up to Rs. 100,000.00
• Major Surgeries - up to Rs 100,000.00
• Minor surgeries (under local anesthesia) up to - Rs. 40,000.00
• Special Investigations (Angiography, MRI etc) Expenses - Rs 25,000.00
• Cataract Surgery - Rs. 8,000.00
• Special allowance, named “SLESA Upahara Allowance” for members who are 90 years and above - Annually Rs 10,000.00.
3. Financial Assistance for severe illnesses of spouse or children under 18 years old under SLESA Members Families Welfare Facility Scheme.
3. Payment for drug bills - As decided by Medical Committee
4. Payment for Spectacles - Rs. 5,000.00, once in two years
5. Payment for Hearing Aids - Rs. 10,000.00, as and when required on medical advice.
6. Financial Assistances for children of members if they are following degrees in state universities or following long courses at State Technical Colleges - Rs. 1,500.00 per month until the end of the programme.
7. Members are eligible to be inmates at SLESA Veterans Homes at Bolagala, Katugastota & Akuressa. Facilities are free for War Veterans of WW II and a maintenance fee ranging from Rs 5,000.00 - Rs 10,000.00 will be charged from inmates depending on the facilities provided, like single room or shared room accommodation etc
8. Holiday Home Facilities in Diyatalawa at very nominal cost.
9. Financial aids for members in case of natural disasters.
10. Eligibility to obtain a loan up Rs 500,000.00 from SLESA Members Welfare Loan Scheme at low interest rates.
11. Members are eligible for discounted rates from reputed service providers on producing SLESA Membership Card.
12. Facilities to obtain National Vocational Qualification Levels through SLESA without any burden, on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) System.
13. Free Library Facilities at SLESA Secretariat.
14. Transport charges for funeral arrangements to member associations with a ceiling of Rs. 20,000.00 annually for each association.
15. Annual Administrative Expenses for each member association depending on its membership.
16. SLESA plans to establish SLESA Veterans Homes amalgamated with SLESA Holiday Bungalows at Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura in the future. Land from Polonnaruwa is already obtained from the Government and arrangements are already made to get a government land from Mihintale area also without payments for this purpose.
