The 29th phase of the Guwan Mithudam project was successfully completed yesterday (24 March 2022) at the “Ceylon School for Deaf and Blind” at Ratmalana by SLAF Base Ratmalana under the guidance of the Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Charmini Pathirana. During this community project the library building was renovated and handed over to the school children.
Approximately 90 differently abled students are studying at this school and the students were unable to use the library due to the dilapidated condition of the building during past few years. This building was repainted and renovated with the additions of infrastructure facilities such as installation of electrical fans, appropriate electrical outlets, re-wiring of the building and repairing of the roof to create a comfortable environment for the students.
This project was funded by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit in liaison with SLAF Base Ratmalana and the project was supervised by the Acting Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Charith Bodhiseela.
The event was attended by the Acting Base Commander, a cross section of officers and other ranks of SLAF Base Ratmalana along with the members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, the Principal, teachers and the students of the school.
