The Sri Lanka Air Force Christmas Carols - 2024 was held last night (13 December 2024) to spread the joy of the season with ‘Light of the World’. On the invitation of the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, this glittery event was held under the gracious presence of Chairperson Seva Vanitha Unit, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Rasika Perera together with Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at Eagles’ Lakeside Banquet & Convention Hall in Attidiya.
The Chief Guest was graciously welcomed at the entrance of Eagles’ Lakeside Banquet & Convention Hall by Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa. The evening unfolded amidst a tranquil and meticulously created Christmas ambiance, befitting the occasion.
This year's Air Force Choir, under the guidance of the Director of Performing Arts, Group Captain Jayaratne Amarasinghe, comprised a diverse group of performers, including members of the Performing Arts Division, children from St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena, Good Shepherd Convent, Colombo and the Kingdom of God Church, Colombo, alongside children of Air Force service personnel, lady officers and spouses. The Choir was led by Squadron Leader Gayan Joseph as the Choir Master.
The event was skillfully hosted by Wing Commander Radhika Ranaweera, Squadron Leader Lilangi Randeni and Flight Lieutenant Pankaja Dissanayake. Adding to the festive spirit, the SLAF Dancing Troupe brought the nativity story to life through a series of vibrant and captivating performances, enhancing the magical essence of Christmas.
Distinguished attendees at the event included clergy community, Chairperson Seva Vanitha Unit Sri Lanka Navy, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa, Chairperson Seva Vanitha Unit of Civil Security Department, Mr. Dilini Kodagoda, Director General Civil Security Department, Air Vice Marshal Roshan Biyanwila, Members of the Diplomatic Corp, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Deputy Chief of Staff and Members of the Air Force Board of Management along with their spouses, were among the guests this year.
