SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY WITH EMPOWERING PROGRAMME

The International Women's Day celebration was successfully held at SLAF Base Katunayake yesterday (07 March 2025), under the direction of the Base Commander, Air Vice Marshal Dammika Dias and the President of the Seva Vanitha Unit at SLAF Base Katunayake, Mrs. Rashomani Dias. The programme was conducted by Mrs. Deepika Nilanthi, a professional counselor and resource person from the Education Department of the Western Province.

This event brought together spouses, female officers, and airwomen to honour and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in the service. It was organized to recognize the critical role women play in the military while also providing an opportunity to educate, inspire and empower all participants.

The programme featured a highly engaging and insightful lecture that captivated the audience with its rich content and relevance to women’s empowerment, personal development and professional growth. The presentation was well-structured, covering key topics such as mindfulness, work-life balance, health and overall well-being, with practical applications that enhanced the participants' experiences.

The event concluded successfully, leaving a lasting sense of pride, empowerment and appreciation for the vital role women play in the armed forces.
