SLAF SEVA VANITHA UNIT EKALA CONDUCTS A MEDICAL SCREENING PROGRAMME AT NALANDA GIRLS' COLLEGE, MINUWANGODA

The Seva Vanitha Unit of Sri Lanka Air Force Trade Training School, Ekala, successfully conducted a Medical Screening Programme yesterday (03 April 2025) at Nalanda Girls' College, Minuwangoda. This was organized under the guidance of the President of the Seva Vanitha Unit, Sri Lanka Air Force Trade Training School, Ekala, Mrs. Bhagya Thilakarathne and the initiative was carried out with the active participation of officers and medical staff. The programme aimed to promote student health and well-being through comprehensive medical check-ups and awareness sessions.

As a part of the initiative, an awareness session on obesity was conducted to educate students on the risks associated with unhealthy food habits. The session emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) to prevent long-term health complications. Following the awareness session, students underwent medical screenings, including eye check-ups and BMI measurements, allowing them to assess their current health status. A total of 159 Grade 12 and 13 students benefited from the programme, gaining valuable insights into preventive healthcare and wellness.
