The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit commenced the Evaluation Phase of the “Clean Today, Green Tomorrow” environmental initiative, which is a key project of the Unit carried out under the guidance and leadership of the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe.
The programme, launched in June 2025, aims to raise sustainable environmental practices across all SLAF establishments through practical, long-term, and measurable green projects. As part of this initiative, SLAF camps presented their progress during the project presentation programme held on 25 and 26 November 2025 at Air Force Headquarters.
Following the presentations, selected establishments from the four project categories, Tree Planting, Waste Management & Camp Cleaning, Eco-Gardening and Water & Energy Saving, were shortlisted for further assessment under the Evaluation Phase.
The evaluation is being conducted by a joint panel comprising Ms. Yasangi Randeni, Head of Sustainability at Aitken Spence PLC, along with the SLAF Evaluation Committee, under the supervision of the Director Agriculture and Welfare Projects, Air Commodore Erandika Gunawardhana.
The Evaluation Committee will visit the outstanding establishments during the next stage of field assessments to verify practical implementation, sustainability, innovative approaches, and overall environmental impact. These visits will also support the finalization of scores and rankings under the programme’s assessment criteria.
The awarding of the best-performing establishments of the ‘Clean Today, Green Tomorrow’ initiative is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The Seva Vanitha Unit acknowledges the continued support of Aitken Spence and extends its appreciation for spearheading this programme, which contributes significantly to building a greener and more sustainable Air Force.
