In line with the Sri Lanka Air Force’s continued commitment to community service and environmental conservation, the Seva Vanitha Unit of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake conducted a beach cleanup programme at Browns Beach, Negombo, on 24 September 2026. The initiative was carried out under the guidance of the Base Commander, Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake Air Vice Marshal Amitha Jayamaha.
Approximately 100 Lady Officers and Airwomen of SLAF Base Katunayake participated in the programme, demonstrating their commitment towards promoting environmental responsibility and community engagement. The initiative was further supported by MASS Holdings.
During the programme, participants systematically covered the designated beach area, collecting and segregating waste for proper disposal. Necessary arrangements, including refreshments, drinking water and basic first aid facilities, were also provided to ensure the smooth conduct of the initiative.
The cleanup programme contributed towards improving the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Browns Beach while promoting greater public awareness on the importance of protecting and preserving coastal environments.
Through such community-oriented initiatives, the Sri Lanka Air Force continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility, contributing positively to the wellbeing of the communities it serves.
