This decoration shall be granted to all ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for individual acts of gallantry and conspicuous bravery of the most exceptional order in the face of the enemy performed voluntarily whilst on active service and with no regard to the risk to his own life and security with the objective of safeguarding thereby the lives of his comrades of facilitating the operational aim of his force and who are recommended by the Commander of the Army, the Commander of the Navy or the Commander of the Air Force to receive the award under the terms and conditions defined in the regulations to award this medal.

Decoration shall be granted to all ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Republic of Sri Lanka for individual acts of gallantry and conspicuous bravery of a non-military nature of the most exceptional order performed voluntarily with no regard to his own life and security with the objective of saving or safeguarding the life or lives of a person imperiled by death or for a meritorious act or a series or acts of a humane nature of an exceptional order displayed in saving life from drowning, fire and rescue operations in mines, floods and similar calamities under circumstances of grave bodily injury or great danger to the life of the rescuer and who are recommended by the Commander of the Army, the Commander of the Navy or the Commander of the Air Force to receive the award under the terms and conditions defined in the regulations to award this medal.

Decoration shall be granted to all ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for individual or associated acts of bravery in the face of the enemy performed voluntarily and who are recommended by the Commander of the Army, the Commander of the Navy or the Commander of the Air Force to receive the award under the terms and conditions defined in the regulations to award this medal.
The decoration will be conferred by Her/ His Excellency the President. Recipient of the decoration will be entitled to use the symbol RWP after his name.
RECIPIENTS OF RANA WICKRAMA PADAKKAMA (RWP)
Decoration shall be granted to all ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for distinguished conduct in the face of the enemy and who are recommended by the Commander of the Army, the Commander of the Navy or the Commander of the Air Force to receive the award under the terms and conditions defined in the regulations to award this medal.
The decoration will be conferred by Her/ His Excellency the President. Recipient of the decoration will be entitled to use the symbol RSP after his name.
RECIPIENTS OF RANA SURA PADAKKAMA (RSP)
This decoration shall be granted to Senior Officers of the Regular Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for exceptional distinguished and loyal service, provided they count not less than twenty-five years of service as defined in the regulations for the award of this medal and possess an unblemished record of moral and military conduct.
The decoration is awarded at the National Day Parade/ stipulated day. The recipient will be entitled to use the symbol of VSV after his name.
This medal shall be granted to all ranks of the Regular Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Republic of Sri Lanka for valuable service and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct provided they count not less than fifteen years of service as defined in the regulations for the award this medal and possess an unblemished record of military and moral conduct to award this medal.
The recipient will be entitled to use the symbol USP after his/her name.
This medal shall be granted to all ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Republic of Sri Lanka for active service outside the territorial limits of the Island provided such service is connected with active service in a Foreign Military Mission or Campaign or in the defence of Sri Lanka or for service connected with military or peace keeping Operations conducted under the auspices of the United Nations Organization as defined in the regulations for the award of this medal.
The Medal shall be awarded to
(a) All Officers and other ranks of the Regular Force and Regular Reserve of the Sri Lanka Air Force who possess a minimum of five years of service from the date of commission or enlistment.
(b) All Officers and other ranks of the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Air Force who possess a minimum of five years of reckonable active service from the date of commission or enlistment.
(c) Permanent or casual civilian employees of the Sri Lanka Air Force who possess a minimum of five years of reckonable service.
Provided that all those to whom the Medal is awarded shall be in service at any time during the period from 03rd March, 2000 to 02nd March 2001 being the year of the 50th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal and Clasp are awarded as a reward for long and efficient service to persons of any rank in the regular Forces of the Army, Navy, or Air Force; their award is governed by the Presidential Warrant dated in August, 1979. Persons of any rank in the Regular Forces of the Army, Navy or Air Force who have been in service on 22nd May, 1972 or thereafter, and who have completed 12 years service, shall be eligible for the award this medal.
This medal shall be granted to the Minister of Defence, the State Minister of Defence, the Secretary of Defence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and all Ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and members of the Sri Lanka Police, for the valuable contribution made since 19.05.2009, for the post-war activities, count not less than Six years of aggregate service excluding the basic training period with a good conduct and the permanent civil staff members with Six years of aggregate service in Armed Service and Affiliates of the Sri Lanka Police under the regulations made for the award of this medal.
This medal shall be granted to the Minister of Defence, the State Minister of Defence, the Secretary of Defence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and all Ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and members of the Sri Lanka Police, for the valuable contribution made since 19.05.2009, for the post-war activities, count not less than Three years of aggregate service excluding the basic training period with a good conduct and the permanent civil staff members with three years of aggregate service in Armed Service and Affiliates of the Sri Lanka Police under the regulations made for the award of this medal.
The Medal shall be awarded to all ranks of the Regular and the Volunteer Forces of the Sri Lanka Army, the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Air Force including officers but excluding those in the ranks of the Sri Lanka Cadet Crops, who were in service on the 04th February, 1978 and who are recommended by the Commander of the Army, Commander of the Navy and the Commander of the Air Force to receive the award.
The Medal shall be awarded to all ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force who are in active service as at the 04th February, 1998 and who are recommended by the respective Service Commanders.
The medal shall be granted to all ranks of the Army, Navy and the Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka who are wounded whilst on operations by enemy action and such injury is classified at least as “Moderately Severe” by the medical authorities or are killed as a consequence of such injury or enemy action, and who recommended by the Commander of the Army, Commander of the Navy and the Commander of the Air Force, to receive the award and clasp to be on the ribbon of the medal, will be awarded in each occasion to those, who having been awarded the medal, get wounded whilst on operations and such injury is classified at least as “Moderately Severe” by the medical authorities and who are recommended by the Commander of Army, the Commander of the Navy or the Commander of the Air Force to receive the clasp under the terms and conditions hereinafter made.
Decoration shall be awarded to the Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Defence, Secretary Defence, Service Commanders, Inspector General of Police, all Military Personnel on active service along with Civilian doctors and their Staff, Police Personnel, civilians who were employed by the services and took part actively in the execution of the East Humanitarian Operation during the period from 28 July, 2006 to 10 July, 2007 as per the conditions defined in the regulations to award this medal.
Decoration shall be awarded to the Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Defence, Secretary Defence, Service Commanders, Inspector General of Police and all Military Personnel on active service along with Civilian doctors and their Staff, Police Personnel, civilians who were employed by the services and took part actively in the execution of the North Humanitarian Operation during the period from 26th February, 2007 to 18th May, 2009, as per the conditions defined in the regulations to award this medal.
Medal shall be granted to all Military personnel who have served in the below mentioned areas since 23rd July, 1983 for an accumulated period of 3 years.
(a) Districts of Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Ampara.
(b) Divisional Secretaries Divisions of Nochchiyagama, Nuwaragampalatha (Central) and Wilachchiya of Anuradhapura Districts.
(c) Divisional Secretaries Divisions of Kalpitiya, Wanathavilluwa and Karuwalagaswewa of Puttalam District.
(d) Divisional Secretaries Divisions of Dimbulagala and Kankapura of Polonnaruwa District.
(e) In the case of Troops deployed in other Divisional Secretaries Divisions ofAnuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Puttlam Districts, the service period reckonable for eligibility will be as follows;
(1) 100% of the service period will be counted in respect of the General Officer Commanding 2 Division by virtue of his appointment.
(2) 100% of the service period will be counted in respect of the personnel deployed in operational duties.
(3) 50% of the service period will be counted in respect of the personnel deployed in Divisional Headquarters and Logistic installations assigned to those Headquarters.
(4) 25% of the service period will be counted in respect of the personnel in Regimental Headquarters and Rear Headquarters of formations/Units deployed in operational areas and training establishments.
The decoration will be conferred by Her/His Excellency the President. Recipient of the decoration will be entitled to use the symbol PWV after his name.
Medal shall be granted to all ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka who have served in the districts of
(i) Jaffna since 22nd day of July 1977
(ii) Vavuniya, Killinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Batticalo, Trincomalee and Ampara since 16th day of September, 1983 as per the regulations to award this medal.
The Medal shall be granted to
(I) personnel of the Security Forces who were actively involved in the military operations in the Vadamarachchi area.
(II) All those logistic and administrative personnel who were involved in supporting the troops in the forward areas during the Vadamarachchi Operation, whether they were stationed in Vadamarachchi or elsewhere,
(III) All security personnel deployed outside the Vadamarachchi operational areas in order to assist the Vadamarachchi operations.
(IV) All those persons both military and civil, who planned the Vadamarachchi operations and were present in the Jaffna Peninsula during the Vadamarachchi operations.
(V) All military and civil hospital personnel who provided medical support and care to the casualties during the Vadamarachchi operation.
The decoration shall be awarded to the Deputy Minister of Defence, Service Commanders, Inspector General of Police all Military personnel on active service along with civilian doctors and their staff, Police personnel, civilians who were employed by the services and took part actively in the execution of the OPERATION RIVIRESA I during the period from 17th October 1995 to 05th December 1995 subjected to the conditions laid down in the regulations for the award this medal.
