Press Conference For Sigiriya Rally Cross 2012

The Chairman of SLAF Motor Racing, Air Commodore JSI Wijemanne made public the intention of the SLAF to hold the 4th Sigiriya Rally Cross on March 4th 2012 at the press briefing held at the Air Force Headquarters auditorium (28th February 2011).
Measures are in place to stage the 4th consecutive Sigiriya Rally Cross organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders at the SLAF circuit in Sigiriya on the 4th of March, 2012. This time around it is the objective of the organizers not only to make this a unique experience for the competitors but also for the spectators as well.
Many Local and overseas competitors have already enrolled to participate in the Sigiriya Rally Cross 2012, thus making it an unique experience not to be missed by the motor racing enthusiasts of the county.
The primary objective in organizing this event, apart from showcasing the talents of our racing drivers, is to enhance mutual understanding and trust between SLAF personnel and civilians, to promote and assist the local hotel and business community in the area and to facilitate the sport of motor racing in Sri Lanka. The proceeds from this event will go towards welfare activities of the SLAF personnel.
Measures are already in place to stage practice sessions on the 3rd of March while the main event will be staged on the 4th paying attention to every detail to ensure challenging and competitive racing for the drivers and riders, and for the amusement and enjoyment of the spectators, whilst keeping safety at the fire front of all planning.
The main sponsor of this event is Bank of Ceylon, the Principle sponsors are Peoples Bank, Ceat the Co-sponsors are Singer, Metropolitan, Abans Automobile, Dimo, TVS, Sri Lankan Air Lines, whilst Cargills, Coke and American Water remain the Service providers for the event.
The electronic media (TV) sponsor is the Rupavahini Coorporation, the Electronic media sponsor (Radio) is ABC Network and the media (Print) sponsors the Associated News papers Ceylon Limited as well as the other media organizations also participated in the press conference.
During the press conference, the main sponsor and the co-sponsors handed over the sponsorship cheques to the Air Commodore JSI Wijemanne, Director of Administration.
