As per the guidance of the Commander of Air Force, SLAF Base Hingurakgoda constructed a new house for Mrs. Shiromi Wijerathne, a Civilian staff member of the Base who was residing in a dilapidated house adjoining the Base premises. The construction of the house was initiated using left over materials from Base construction projects and contributions received through outside donors. During the latter part of the construction, a generous contribution by the Commander of the Air Force has made this project a reality.  This newly constructed house was officially handed over to her on the 02nd April 2012.

The Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Base Commander Group Captain RAUP Rajapaksa, President Seva Vanitha Unit Sri Lanka Air Force Base Hingurakgoda Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, Officer in charge of the project Sqn Ldr PHSN Hewage, officers and donors who have supported the project were also present to witness this special occasion.
