Dengue Prevention Campaign in Borella and Kollupitiya

Under the instruction of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo launched its first step in the dengue prevention campaign in the Borella and Kollupitya area on the morning of 22th June 2012.

SLAF Personnel were divided into 16 teams of 6 personnel each comprising of an Officer, A Warrant Officer, an SNCO, two airman, an Air Force Public Health Inspector and a Civil Policeman, visited Public Institutions in the area and instructed personnel therein on the maintenance of their surroundings and on the action required to control and prevent the spread of Dengue.

As the second step in the program SLAF personnel will once again visit to the same places on the 26th June 2012 to inspection the progress of the campaign.
In another part of this same campaign, two teams of 40 SLAF personnel each cleaned the Borella bus stand, Borella market, Cemetery. and other areas within the Borella area where mosquitoes could possibly breed.

This campaign was conducted by the Commanding Officer of 28 Regiment Wing of SLAF Station Colombo, Group Captain IK Weerarathna under the guidance of the Director of Air Operations Air Vice Marshal GP Bulathsinghala and the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo Air Commodore KFR Fernando.
