Katunayake Celebrated its 61st Formation Day on 28th September, 2012.The
celebrations commenced with the Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayake,
Air Commodore DLS Dias inspecting the parade.Furthermore a number of
sports activities and community welfare programmes were also organized
with the participation of all ranks and civilian staff of the
Base.
A shramadana campaign was held at the Rathanasara Vidyalaya, the Buddhist School and the Roman Catholic School at the Ardiambalama on 29th September, 2012. A coastal cleanup programme was also conducted at the Negombo beach in liaison with Marine Environment Authority on 11th September, 2012.
The formation day culminated with a musical show that was held for the service and civilian staff and their families.
