Air Force Qualify For the Finals

The SLAF qualified to play in the Dialog Champions League soccer
tournament after beating Don Bosco SC, 2-1 this evening (15 November
2009) at the City League Ground Colombo. Both teams wanting to get in
to the finals very badly played aggressively from the kickoff. However,
the soggy ground due to over night showers seemed to have a
considerable impact on the players. As both teams fought hard to get
its first goal, neither was successful until the 45th Minute when Don
Bosco scored its first.
Thereafter, the Airmen
wanting to get a taste of the championship dint give up that easy.
During the 78th Minute Airmen Dilshan scored the opening goal for Air
Force, whilst Airmen Niroshan scored the 2nd goal at the 87th Minute,
when all thought that the officials would have to go for extra time.
The final scores at the end of the whistle read as 2-1. The Airmen are
scheduled to play Renown SC in the finals of this tournament
on 22 November 2009.
