The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, declared open the newly constructed Multi-Storied married quarters complex located at Guwanpura adjacent to P.Saravanamuththu Stadium Colombo 08 on 20th March 2013 at the auspicious time of 0830 Hrs.

The opening ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque by the Commander. The symbolic handing over of the keys to the recipients of the new houses was done with the Commander handing over the keys to Mrs SK Pathirana (Wife of Commandant SLAF Academy China Bay Air Commodore SK Pathirana). The Air Force Board of Management, The Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo Air Commodore KFR Fernando, senior officers, officers and family members of house recipients were also present.

The complex comprises of 28 apartments in 7 stories, with 3 bed rooms, bathroom, dining/ living areas, pantry/kitchen, servant’s bathroom and verandah in each apartment. The complex has its own parking facility at the ground level.
