The 17th Formation Day of the No. 8 Squadron was celebrated on 2nd April 2013. The celebrations began with a working parade at the base parade square, which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer No. 8 Squadron, Wing Commander LP Dahanayake. He expressed his gratitude to all the personnel in the squadron for their contribution and emphasized the importance of uplifting the standards of the squadron. Later a friendly cricket tournament was held at the base playground with the participation of all the officers, other ranks and civilians of the squadron to mark the Formation Day.
