The SLAF Hospital at SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated its 66th anniversary on 23 July 2013. The Formation Day celebrations began with religious activities by chanting Kavibana which was presided over by Venerable Wahanthare Siddhartha Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the Shailathalaramaya Thidgala Panduwasnuwara. This event was followed by an alms giving for the thero and blessings were invoked on the Commander of the Air Force, those who laid down their lives for the betterment of the Motherland, those wounded in action and all serving personnel of the SLAF.

The event was held with the participation of the Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake Air Cdre SK Pathirana. The Commanding Officer SLAF Hospital Katunayake Wg Cdr NDB Abeysekaera (L), medical Officers, other ranks, civilian staff of the hospital and a cross section of service personnel representing the Base, participated in the event.
