SLAF Boxer Beats Former National boxer Comprehensively in re-trial PD
Suresh a young boxer competing at National level for the first time
while representing the SLAF beat former National champion Manjula
Wanniarachchi comprehensively(16-06) at the trials worked out last
evening (26 November 2009) at the Royal College sports complex.
The match was worked off between the two individuals, as a re-trial was re-arranged before a new selection committee, in order to select the best boxer to represent the country in the forth coming South Asian Games in Daka, Bangladesh.The new comer to the National arena displayed his professionalism right from the beginning as the Doctors were forced to stop the match in the 3rd round after Manjula was found bleeding severely. The Airmen is scheduled to represent Sri Lanka in the fly weight category at the forth coming SAF games shortly.
