Air Force Soccerites Enter Finals
The SLAF soccer team enters the finals of the ‘Dialog Champions League’ Soccer Championship after defeating Anuradhapura Solid SC 2-1, last evening (17th December 2013) at the Police Park Grounds Colombo.
Solid SC, which fielded three foreign players in their squad at yesterday’s match, did however, go down fighting. During the 29th Minute of the first half Leading aircraftman Janaka Chaminda scored the opening goal for Air Force, whilst Leading aircraftman Dilshan (Captain) scored the 2nd goal at the 34th Minute of the second half, when all thought that the officials would have to go for extra time. The final scores at the blowing of the whistle read as 2-1.
Out of the nine matches in the second round of this tournament, Air Force won four and drew two with three losses. The Airmen are scheduled to play Renown SC in the finals of this tournament on 22 December 2013 at the Varnon Fernando Stadium Kalutara.
