University Students Pass Out From Combat Training School SLAF Diyatalawa

The Closing Ceremony of the Leadership Qualities and Positive Thinking through Theoretical and Practical Training programme that commenced on 18 January 2014, was held under the Guidance of the Commanding Officer Group Captain Peterson Fernando on 6th February 2014. Five hundred and eighty-six (586) University Entrants participated in this programme.
During the training programme, the Minister of Higher Education Hon. SB Disanayake and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education Hon. Nandimithra Ekanayake visited the Combat Training School SLAF Diyatalawa and addressed the University Entrants.
The trainees of the course took part in community service activities on the 4th of February 2014 at Diyatalawa town concurrent to the 66th Celebration of the Country’s Independence which was another novel experience for them.
The drill display performed by the students, after just four days of training by the squadron drill instructuors, was one of the highlights of the day. A variety of entertainment shows were also arranged under the guidance of the Officer Commanding Training, Wing Commander Nilantha Piyasena in order to showcase the hidden talents of the course participants.
Officer Commanding Training Wing Commander Nilantha Piyasena, Squadron Leader Ajith Jayakody, the Officer in Charge and Squadron Leader Chaminda Ranasinghe lead the ‘Prospective Leaders’ course in order to broaden the horizons to meet future challenges of Mother Lanka.
