Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Sarath Fonseka was accorded a Guard of Honour during his first official visit to Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Headquarters on 21st July, 2009.  

The Guard of Honour was conferred by the Colour Squadron of SLAF and was commanded by Flight Lieutenant H.M.H.G.Herath. After the inspection of the parade, General Fonseka was received by Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, Commander  SLAF, Group Captain Nishantha Dharmadasa Commanding Officer SLAF, Colombo and other Officers attached to SLAF Headquarters.
 
Two official plaques were exchanged between the CDS and Commander SLAF in the Commander’s Office. CDS also met with the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and the Board of Management of SLAF.
