Closing Ceremony of Spiders' Challenge Trophy 2014

The Spiders' Challenge Trophy 2014, the Annual Intra-Directorate Sports Competition of the Directorate of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (Dte of E & T E) came to an exciting close, in a colorful ceremony held at the Sports Ground, SLAF Base Katunayake on 22 November 2014 that saw the culmination of months of competitive sports in which sportsmen and women of the four teams (Glider, Spotter, Wasper, Wolfer) pitted their talents against each other in eight competitive events.
The final day commenced at SLAF Base Katunayake Sports Ground with the ‘Athletic’ events. The four teams, Wolfer team led by E & T E Wing Rma, Glider team led by E & T E Wing Kat, Wasper team led by RMW Kat and Spotter team led by ITW SLAF RMA battled with each other to become champion in Athletics. However, after stiff competition, Glider team emerged as the winners of the Athletics, Wolfer team and Spotter team secured the first runner-up and second runner-up positions respectively whilst Wasper became third runner-up.
With the end of the Athletic event, the Closing Ceremony of Spiders' Challenge Trophy 2014 started with the participation of Director of Directorate of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (Dte of E & T E) Air Vice Marshal RJ Pathirage gracing as the Chief Guest.
The vibrant championship saw sports personnel showing their talents and spirit in eight events. At the end, the Spotter team emerged as the Champion of Spiders’ Challenge Trophy 2014 securing a total of 305 points whilst the Glider team became first runner-up securing a total of 280 points. Wolfer team and Wasper team obtained second and third runner-up positions scoring a total of 255 and 250 points respectively.
Director Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (Dte of E & T E) Air Vice Marshal RJ Pathirage awarded the Spiders' Challenge Champion Trophy to the Spotter team and the first runner-up trophy to Wasper team, at the Closing Ceremony.
