The Annual Christian Commemorative Service

The Annual Christian Commemorative Service of the Sri Lanka Air Force was held at the St Theresa’s Church, Thimbirigasyaya the evening hours on 28th July 2009.
The officiating clergy will represent all major Christian denominations and this year Rev. Fr. Anton Shiran Fonseka, acting incumbent priest of the church will be assisted by Rev. Fr. Tony Martyn (Catholic), Rt. Rev. Chrishantha Mendis (Arch Deacon, Anglican Church), Rev. W. Varshamanage (Baptist Church), Rev. Nimal Mendis (Methodist Church), Pastor Lilan De Silva (Full Gospel Ministry).
This Service is being held annually to thank the Lord for the souls of all those brave men and women of the Sri Lanka Air Force, who made the supreme sacrifice, in defence of our motherland and those who died whilst on active service and to bless the families left behind by those fallen colleagues.
Further blessing of the Leaders of the Country, the three Commanders, all ranks presently serving Air Force and all establishments and the assets of the Air Force too will be carried out during the service.
The Service will be attended by the Air Force Board of Management, Officers and a cross section of other ranks representing all Bases and Stations as well as the various trades of the Air Force.
