SLAF Fights Forest Fire In Havaeliya (Nuwara Eliya) Using Bell 212

The SLAF deployed a Bell 212 helicopter of the No 4 Squadron based in Katunayake to douse a forest fire that was raging uncontrolably in the Havaeliya area.
The Bell 212 specially out fitted with the BAMBI fire fighting bucket used water from Lake Gregory to douse the fire in five consequtive passes this afternoon. The SLAF was requested to assist by the Divisional Secretary of Nuwaraelia.
