The Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke was accorded a Guard of Honour during the Annual Commanders Inspection at SLAF Base Vavuniya this morning (05 March 2010).

The Base Commander Air Commodore KFR Fernando received the Commander on his arrival and a Guard of Honour was conferred by Flight Lieutenant Prasad Kulathunga.

SLAF Base Vavuniya acts as a forward Base in the Wanni region to provides logistical and operational support by air in to the region. This Base also administratively supports several ground deployments of the SLAF in the Wanni region.
