The second edition of the "Sigiriya Rally Cross" was conducted yesterday (07th March 2010) at the Sri Lanka Air Force Station Sigiriya race track. This is an annual feature of the  Sri Lankan Racing calendar  which is conducted by the Sri Lanka Air Force in association with the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR).

  This is the One and only Tar and Gravel road track consisting various obstacles in the national motor racing arena. The event was flagged off yesterday with an enthusiastic participation of competitors and massive spectator presence. The participation of Indian riders also added an international flavour to the event. The total collection will be channeled towards the upliftment of families of the injured and fallen SLAF personnel who can’t be supported through public funds.

The Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonatileke graced the event as the Chief Guest and officially christened the track as the Sigiriya Rally Cross Track. Following much competition amongst the "Racers" national champion rider Gayan Sandaruwan raced his way to win the best riders trophy and was awarded the Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke Challenge trophy.
