Inauguration of ETU Lecture Hall and Mini Theater at Hospital SLAF Base Ratmalana

A long outstanding requirement for an Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU), hospital lecture hall and mini theater at the Hospital SLAF Base Ratmalana was fulfilled on 15th December 2015 when they were formally opened by Gp Capt LR Jayaweera the Director Health Services and Air Commodore PDKT Jayasighe, the Base Commander of the SLAF Base Ratmalana.
The existing Operation theatre complex has been restructured and modified to serve as a mini theater, hospital lecture hall and the ETU after shifting the theater facility to SLAF hospital Guwanpura.
The spacious two-bed, fully equipped ETU will be of immense benefit to the Hospital where prompt life saving attention could be given to patients with medical and surgical emergencies. Also the emergency drill of cardio-respiratory arrested patient (transportation, receiving and resuscitation) was conducted using the newly obtained fully equipped ambulance.
The newly established hospital lecture hall will be utilized to conduct the basic aviation medicine course for nurses, the operational aviation medicine course for aircrew and continuation training for hospital staff in year 2016. The modified mini theater will also empower the hospital to effectively perform surgical management of patients.
