No. 02 ADRS Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The No. 02 Air Defence Radar Squadron celebrated their 10th Anniversary on 10th March 2016 giving prominence to social, religious and sports activities.
No 2 ADRS was inaugurated on 10th March 2006 and possess the pride of their immense contribution to the National Air Defence Network. This is one of the first Air Defence Radar Squadrons established in Sri Lanka and played a key role in the formulation of the National Air Defence network. It was often the first radar to detect enemy aircraft movements and was able to pass on timely warnings which became a key factor in the battle against enemy air power.
The Formation Day working parade was held at the squadron premises and it was reviewed by the Commanding Officer Wg Cdr KC Serasinghe followed by a Multi religious ceremony.
As part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations, a Sramadana campaign and Dental clinic was conducted at Arugampuleliya Primary School on 09th March 2016. Also a library building with all facilities was built and bestowed for Arugampuleliya Primary School which is functioning with bare minimum facilities.
Together with the social and religious activities, a soft ball cricket tournament was held between the squadron personnel at the base playground.
The Actg Base Commander of SLAF Base Vavuniya Wg Cdr SWCP Bodhiseela graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
